Elvena Profile Photo

Hello, I’m Elvena.

I’ve worked across many areas of the social care sector, as a care worker, advocate and Occupational Therapist.

Over time, I became increasingly frustrated by the ever-narrowing scope of statutory services, and the lack of practical, embodied support available to neurodivergent people and their families.

My Background

I’ve worked across many areas of the social care sector, as a care worker, advocate and Occupational Therapist.

Over time, I became increasingly frustrated by the ever-narrowing scope of statutory services, and the lack of practical, embodied support available to neurodivergent people and their families.

My Approach

We live in a time of increasing diagnosis.

While labels can be useful, they often say little about a person’s lived experience.

My belief is that many challenges commonly attributed to diagnosis are rooted in nervous system dysregulation, affecting sensory processing, emotional regulation and executive functioning.

My work focuses on these root causes, offering concrete, practical strategies to help you regain a sense of safety and agency in your body.

I work with a bottom-up approach, where regulation, attention and embodiment are seen as central to wellbeing, not afterthoughts.

Somatic Work

Somatic work focuses on creating a sense of safety within the body, through practical strategies of nervous system regulation, rather than focusing on cognitive approaches.

Alongside my clinical work, I’ve been on a personal journey of exploring spiritual and embodied practices, including:

I’m particularly interested in how sensory processing and perception are explored within Yoga philosophy and Buddhist teachings.

To me, these traditions hold deep insight into how we navigate overwhelm and cultivate regulation.

We have been given a blueprint to understand how increasing awareness of our interoceptive processing can help us to better regulate our responses to other input.

My Vision

I am deeply passionate about teaching people how sensory processing works, so they can understand their own patterns and make informed, sustainable changes in daily life.

Through this unique blend of lived experience, professional training, and contemplative practice, I’ve developed a deeply integrative understanding of sensory processing challenges and how to manage them — one that honours the body, the environment, and the person as a whole.

Please note:

Although I am a qualified and registered Occupational Therapist, Sensory Somatics is offered as a holistic coaching and education service, not formal Occupational Therapy.

This work is intended as a short-term intervention to build understanding, awareness, and practical skills so you can work confidently with your own sensory needs.
